Free Radical Damage and Oxidative Stress Ravage Our Cells
Free radical damage is an "unseen health factor" that causes harm at the
cellular level.
Free radical damage is produced when certain molecules containing a charge -- thanks to an unpaired electron -- naturally gravitate towards oxygen and other atoms that they can readily bind to.

Free radicals form in our bodies as we metabolize (process) food and during other natural body functions. They are also created from exposure to the sun, pollutants found in the air,
eating processed foods, smoking, and much more. They are also caused by stress. As a result....
Free radicals can cause oxidative stress damage to proteins, membranes and genes. As a consequence of this activity, more highly reactive and damaging radical molecules are produced.
We've been trying to show that fruits and vegetables with
dark pigments
have
unseen benefits and antioxidant healing properties.
Cell biology has given us a new understanding of why.
Our bodies are bombarded daily with health hazards and irritants in the form of
air pollution,
synthetic drugs,
chemicals in our water,
as well as additives in the foods we eat.
Much of this
free radical damage are dangerous toxins
which can damage the membranes of our bodies' smallest units:
our cells.
A chain reaction spawning even more free radicals from one radical, "metastasizing" free molecule can tear
apart the membranes of several other cells before it is halted.
The reason for this is easily explained: Our cell membranes contain oxygen and other atoms whose electrons are exposed and easily "stolen" by these unnaturally charged radicals.
The result:
Free radicals can ravage cell membranes and diminish their ability to function or even to exist.
Recent science indicates that those cellular membranes, more than any other part of our biological selves, control who we are.
The solution to the free radical problem, thankfully, is simple:
It's all in the foods we eat.
Foods containing dark pigments contain the highest concentration of antioxidants.
These foods have been shown to absorb the damage of these free radicals upon themselves. Superfoods such as beets,
dark green vegetables,
and most notably
berries,
provide the chemcials we need. So, when we eat these foods our bodies and our cellular membranes are strengthened.
Potent antioxidants are most effective, by far, in their natural
form -- namely, straight from fruit (either raw or
juiced)
or from raw cacao found in
healthy dark chocolate.*
